District Vision

The Westfield Public Schools will collaborate with our community to provide a rigorous educational experience that promotes continuous academic, emotional, and social growth and enables students to achieve personal success to become self-sufficient global citizens.

 

District Theory of Action

If we design and implement a rigorous instructional program aligned with staff development, then our students will achieve a high level of success as evidenced by multiple measures.

 

 District Strategic Objectives

A.  Provide all students with high quality learning experiences. 

 

B.  Redistrict the elementary schools to K-4 and establish a Grade 5-6 intermediate school and a Grade 7-8 middle school. 

 

C.  Offer a variety of college and career readiness opportunities for all students. 

 

 

 

WTA Vision

 

The Westfield Technical Academy will be recognized as a student-centered learning community focused on integrating academic and technical achievement with career and college readiness.

 

WTA Site-Based Initiatives

Reconstitute the WTA Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), which will pilot Instructional Rounds in Education during the 2017-2018 School Year.

Develop specific rationales and protocols for collaborative and effective interface between WTA and the new intermediate and middle schools.

Continue the delivery of the “Signal Success” Curriculum in Grades 9 and 10.

Implement an aligned professional development plan for the 2017-2018 School Year centered on Universal Design for Learning, Personalized Learning, Social-Emotional Learning, Academic/Technical Integration; and Google Platform Technology.

 

 

 

 

Strengthen our collaboration with the MAEOE, REB, the EDCWM, and the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce (via WE2BA) to identify career pathway opportunities; to foster increased participation and collaboration on our General and Program Advisory Committees; and to identify additional shadowing, internship, and Co-Op opportunities for our students.

Emphasize “power standards” aligned with our professional development priorities to strengthen the efficacy of our educator observation and evaluation process.

 

Develop and sustain relationships with local colleges and universities to provide and expand access to early college and dual enrollment pathways for our students.
